We arrive in Lisbon this morning and, after clearing customs, we will begin a city tour that will include, among other sites, the Chiado Square, the Barrio Alto, and the Torre de Belem. After checking into our hotel we will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Tuesday, April 10 – Fatima, Portugal

Depart Lisbon for the Marian shrine at Fatima where we will visit the Shrine and have time to pray and to explore the Shrine’s grounds. We will have dinner at our hotel and spend the night in Fatima.  (B, D)

Wednesday, April 11 – Santiago de Compostela, Spain

Our journey today will take us northward through cities in Portugal and then into Spain. Before leaving Portugal we will visit the cathedrals in Porto and Braga as well as the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus. On arrival in Santiago we will take in the immense Shrine of Saint James, the destination of those who make the camino, or walk, from southern France to Santiago. Fr. Thursday, April 12 – Santiago to Madrid

The morning hours are at your leisure to visit the Shrine and the city. We board our train to Madrid in mid-afternoon. After checking into our Madrid hotel we will have dinner a local restaurant.  (B, D)

Friday, April 13 – Madrid

Our day is filled with a tour of the picturesque city of Madrid. We will visit or view the National Prado Gallery and the Museum, the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor and the Gran Via among other sites. Dinner and overnight in Madrid.  (B, D)

Saturday, April 14 – Toledo, Spain

Today we will visit Toledo which is known as the “Imperial City” and the “City of Three Cultures”. Some of the sites we will visit or view include the Catedral Primada, the Mirador del Valle, the Casco Historico de Toledo, and the San Martin Bridge. After returning to Madrid the evening is at our leisure and dinner is on our own. (B)

Sunday, April 15 – Avila

Once again we leave Madrid for a visit to Avila, the city of St. Teresa. Some of the sites we will visit or view include the Catedral de an Salvador and the Convento de Santa Teresa.  Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Avila. While returning to Madrid we will visit El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen.  Dinner is on our own this evening in Madrid. (B, L)

Monday, April 16 – Barcelona

We leave Madrid today by train for Barcelona.  Here will we find Gaudi’s famous Basilica de Sagrada Familia, the Picasso and Mori museums, Las Ramblas and much more. Dinner is served in the city and our overnight accommodations are in Barcelona. (B, D)

Tuesday, April 17 – Montserrat and Manresa

We will journey outside Barcelona today to visit the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat and then to visit Manresa, a city associated with St. Ignatius of Loyola. A “farewell dinner” is served at the Restaurant Can Travi Nou in Barcelona. Overnight at our hotel. (B, D)

Wednesday, April 18 – Homeward

Once again we leave Madrid for a visit to Avila, the city of St. Teresa. Some of the sites we will visit or view include the Catedral de an Salvador and the Convento de Santa Teresa.  Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Avila. While returning to Madrid we will visit El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen.  Dinner is on our own this evening in Madrid. (B, L)

DAY 9 – Barcelona

We leave Madrid today by train for Barcelona.  Here will we find Gaudi’s famous Basilica de Sagrada Familia, the Picasso and Mori museums, Las Ramblas and much more. Dinner is served in the city and our overnight accommodations are in Barcelona. (B, D)

DAY 10 – Montserrat and Manresa

We will journey outside Barcelona today to visit the Benedictine Monastery of Montserrat and then to visit Manresa, a city associated with St. Ignatius of Loyola. A “farewell dinner” is served at the Restaurant Can Travi Nou in Barcelona. Overnight at our hotel. (B, D)

DAY 11 – Homeward

We bid farewell to Spain today as we depart Barcelona for Detroit. (B)
